Abstract
This study examined differences in mathematics confidence between primary and secondary teachers. Survey data was collected from 225 Victorian teachers in the Momentum Schools program. Primary teachers reported highest confidence in foundational number concepts, while secondary teachers showed greater confidence in measurement and data concepts. Areas of low confidence, fractions for primary teachers, foundational concepts for secondary teachers, align with student achievement challenges. These findings will inform differentiated learning design and highlight the importance of role-specific pedagogical content knowledge in mathematics teaching reform.
