Abstract
In this paper a quantitative analysis of the results of a nationwide survey into
the use of computers in New Zealand primary and secondary classrooms is
described. The hardware and software distribution and pattern of classroom use
in mathematics is outlined. The reasons teachers perceive for not being able
to make even greater use of both calculators and computers in their
mathematics teaching raises some important issues which have strong
implications in terms of school funding and teacher training.
