Karen AhearnGrade 2 students, experienced in the use of technological tools in learning, were engaged in measurement and data investigations related to an integrated unit ‘How I have changed?’. Data analysis skills were developed as students were encouraged by the mathematics specialist teacher to pose and interpret questions, experiment with data handling methods, draw inferences, and make connections with prior representations. This pilot study focused on the impact of students’ use of Excel software on their understanding of the relationship between the data and different graphical representations. The study also identified both student misconceptions and advanced development of proportional reasoning.
