Abstract
This paper reports some initial findings from a substantial project funded by a UK government
agency. The project aimed to investigate effective pedagogy in numeracy and literacy using
ICT in primary schools. Some preliminary findings relating to pupils' attainment and a
series of lesson observations are reported. Some of the broader findings from the development
work in mathematics and ICT are also discussed in the context of two particular case studies
which focused on developing effective pedagogy in mathematics.
