Abstract
The Internet is a new and exciting technology. It offers
enticing and seductive possibilities as a research tool.
Simultaneously, it presents a number of challenges to current
accepted research practices. Access to its capabilities and the
amount of information available have expanded rapidly. In
this paper we discuss several issues in the use of the Internet
to conduct research. We also outline some of the difficulties
we encountered in our initial explorations of the Internet's
potential as a source of gathering survey data.
